Your BrightBridge account covers the practical side of your job: clocking in, seeing your schedule, asking for time off, and finishing the paperwork that gets you paid.

Scope

Your own information only

You Do

Clock in, requests, paperwork

Time to read

About 4 minutes

What you can do

Your account shows your own information and nothing else. You can't see other people's hours, pay or records, and they can't see yours.

  • Clock in and out at the start and end of your shift.
  • See your schedule for the weeks ahead.
  • Request time off for dates you need.
  • Finish your onboarding tasks when you join.
  • Upload documents — certifications, ID, anything your employer asks for.
  • Complete your own tax and direct deposit forms if your employer runs payroll here.

Clocking in

Open BrightBridge in a browser, sign in, and use the time clock on your dashboard. Clock in when you start and out when you finish.

A phone app is coming

A BrightBridge Time Clock app has been built and is on its way to the app stores. Until it's available, the browser clock on your dashboard is how you punch in.

If your employer uses location checking

Some employers require you to be at the workplace to clock in. If that’s switched on for your site, allow location access when your browser or phone asks, and clock in once you’ve arrived. If you’re turned away while standing at work, tell your manager rather than trying repeatedly — they can record the time for you.

If you forget to clock out

Tell your manager as soon as you notice. They can correct your timesheet, and a correction made the next morning is far easier than one found on the payroll deadline. Corrections come with a note explaining them, which protects you as much as anyone.

Schedule and time off

Your dashboard shows your upcoming schedule and lets you submit a time off request for dates up to about six months ahead. Add a short note about why — it helps your manager plan cover.

Wait for your manager's answer, not the app's

Submitting a request records it, but the approval itself is handled by your manager outside BrightBridge at the moment. Don't treat a submitted request as approved time off — confirm with your manager directly.

Your onboarding tasks

When you're hired, BrightBridge builds you a checklist. It's the paperwork side of starting a job: identity documents, certifications, handbook acknowledgements and anything specific to your workplace.

Work through it in your first week. Some items need a document uploaded, some need an expiry date, and some just need you to confirm you've read something. Your manager can see what's outstanding and will help with anything unclear.

Finishing the checklist is what activates you

Until the required items are done you're marked as onboarding, which can keep you off the clock. It's worth an hour early on.

Keeping certifications current

Certifications with expiry dates — CPR, first aid, background checks — will come back around. You’ll be prompted before they expire, not after. Start renewals early, because they take longer than people expect.

Your payroll paperwork

If your employer runs payroll through BrightBridge, you complete your own forms: your W-4, any state tax form, your date of birth and Social Security number, and your bank details for direct deposit.

Do this before your first payday. Nobody else can fill it in for you unless you ask — if you need help, your employer can enter it on your behalf, and that's recorded.

Unfinished forms don't hold up your colleagues

If your paperwork isn't complete you're simply left out of that payroll run. Everyone else is paid on time — but you won't be until it's done.

Your information

Your Social Security number, date of birth and bank details are used to pay you and to file your taxes. Other employees can't see them. Your manager sees your hours, your schedule and your document status — not your bank details.

Sign in only through your employer's BrightBridge address, and never share your password. If anyone contacts you asking for your bank details "to update payroll", it isn't BrightBridge and it isn't your employer. Tell your manager.
