Your package decides which parts of BrightBridge switch on. This page shows exactly what each one includes, and what changes when you move between them.

“Why don't I have that screen?”

Two capabilities do the switching: the time clock, and payroll. Everything on the people side — records, onboarding, documents, compliance — is included in every package.

For businesses that want their people, paperwork and certifications in one place, and who handle hours and pay some other way.
What you get. The full people side: employee records, automatically generated onboarding checklists, compliance items with expiry dates, document upload with renewal reminders, and a compliance score per employee so nothing quietly lapses. Your staff get logins so they can complete their own paperwork.
What you won’t see. No time clock and no payroll screens. Pay rates aren’t collected when you hire someone, because nothing in this package uses them.
Best fit. Childcare centers and care providers whose main exposure is an expired certification or a missing file at inspection.
Every employee gets a record, a checklist and a compliance score no matter which package you're on. There's no cap on people or locations.
The complete platform. Hours are captured at the clock, confirmed by the manager who supervised the work, and carried into payroll without anyone retyping a number.
What you get. Everything in Compliance Only, plus the time clock, timesheets and approvals, and full payroll: pay periods, previews, submission, funding, tax filing, paystubs and pay history. This is also the only package where the Payroll Manager role does anything.
The chain. Employee clocks in → location manager reviews and approves the hours → payroll manager or owner imports the approved hours → payroll is previewed → payroll is submitted before the cutoff. Each link has exactly one owner.
What setup involves. Payroll needs your business verified with the payroll provider, a funding bank account, and each employee’s own tax and direct-deposit forms. See changing your package for what that looks like.
For businesses that already have a payroll provider they're happy with, but no reliable record of who worked when.
What you get. Everything in Compliance Only, plus the time clock, timesheets, per-location hour approvals, and — the piece that makes this package work — an export of approved hours you hand to whoever runs your payroll. Pay rates are recorded when you hire someone so the export carries them.
What you won’t see. No payroll screens, no paystubs, no tax filing. Nothing is submitted to a payroll provider on your behalf.
Best fit. Multi-site operators whose real problem is hour disputes and unverifiable timesheets rather than tax filing.
Packages are agreed with the BrightBridge team, not switched from inside the app. Once an upgrade is approved for your company, an Upgrade item appears in the owner's menu showing the single next step. Time tracking always comes before payroll.
Adding the time clock to a Compliance Only account.
The clock appears for staff as soon as it completes — usually within minutes of the coordinates arriving.
Adding payroll on top of time tracking.
Payroll screens appear immediately with a setup checklist. Business verification typically takes one to three business days.
They're simply left out of that payroll run, with the reason shown against their name. One person's missing W-4 never blocks everyone else from being paid. You can also enter their details on their behalf if they need help — that action is recorded against your account.
After any package change, do a dress rehearsal on live data — a real clock-in at every location, a real approval, and a payroll preview you don't submit. A rehearsal catches setup gaps that checking screens never will.
